Topic:Testing
Answer:
HIL testing (Hardware-in-the-Loop) checks a real controller on a test bench where a simulator imitates the flight and the sensors. Fault injection means adding failures on purpose. Mate academy teaches both methods.
In HIL testing, a flight controller or an onboard computer connects to a test bench that feeds it data as if in flight: GPS, IMU, telemetry. This lets a QA engineer check system behavior with no risk of crashing the drone. Fault injection adds controlled failures (signal loss, power drops, corrupted packets) and shows if the system goes into a safe mode. These methods are the basis of safety-critical testing in MilTech, automotive and medical electronics. The QA engineer in MilTech course from Mate academy combines the basics of HIL and fault injection with SITL simulators and log analysis.
